It has not been a good week for Victor Blackwell.
The former USC receiver was arrested on Wednesday night on suspicion of domestic violence.
His girlfriend claimed Blackwell punched her numerous times in the face and threw a chair at her. The university’s Department of Public Safety website also stated Blackwell smashed her computer, cell phone, and punched multiple holes in her bedroom door.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s website stated Blackwell’s bond is set at $50,000 and that the wideout could face a felony charge.
Blackwell had been missing from the Trojans’ practices after their loss to Boston College on September 13. He caught three passes for 54 yards in the Trojans opening win over Fresno State, and finishes his career with eight receptions for 112 yards.
Head coach Steve Sarkisian announced on Thursday that the junior was no longer apart of the team.
“Haven’t seen him for a month, so we’ve moved forward there,” Sarkisian said.
The university released a statement concerning these events surrounding Blackwell.
“The University of Southern California takes very seriously any report of violence or assault and does not tolerate any form of harassment, violence or intimidation,” stated Ainsley Carry, vice provost for student affairs. “The university is assisting the Los Angeles Police Department in its investigation of USC student Victor Blackwell. Our own student judicial process is confidential in compliance with federal privacy laws.”
