Safety Adonis Alexander Commits to Virginia Tech

Virginia Tech has a reputation for churning out quality defensive backs, so don’t be surprised if the name “Adonis Alexander’ is on that list in a couple of years’ time.

The safety out of Independence High School in Charlotte, North Carolina, received a three-star rating by 247 Sports, but seems to have flown under the radar, with no other recruiting organization putting forward a rating as yet.

Alexander has excellent size at 6’3 and 193 pounds, and made 105 tackles and 2 interceptions as a high school senior. Surprisingly, he received few scholarship offers, but it looks like the Hokies did their homework on him.

While he won’t be expected to start from day one, Alexander has plenty of potential and should be worth developing, so expect him to take a redshirt in his freshman year.

Virginia Tech has been recruiting hard on defense for the 2015 class, and have added some good-looking players at every level. The Hokies forte has long been defense, and if they keep pulling in quality recruits to develop, it should remain that way for the foreseeable future.
