The first Rivals 250 for the Class of 2016 was released on Tuesday to the delight of many fans around the country. Recruiting in college football has become more than just an aspect of college football, but a sport in and of itself. Every fan wants to know where their teams’ commitments stack up and how they are ranked relative to the competition. While coaches swear to rely only on their own observation and analysis, the rankings give fans something to argue over. There is no better trusted network of recruiting rankings than that of Rivals. This is the earliest numerical release ever for a specific high school class. This just furthers the notion that recruiting is becoming an important process earlier in these players careers. These players have yet to be juniors and they have already been given rankings at their positions, rankings which many will be challenged to defend in the upcoming years.
It may come as no surprise that the SEC is already off to a terrific start in this years class as evidenced by some of the verbal commitments. Out of the mere 21 recruits who have made verbal commitments in the top 250, 12 of them are to SEC schools, including five of the top 10… Yikes! Click here to find the complete top 250.
