Updated from yesterday’s post. Nick Marshall has not been suspended, but he will have an ‘in-house’ suspension for the first game, meaning he will not start.
Long-term this shouldn’t be an issue for the Auburn Tigers, by Week Three people will have forgotten, but in the short term it will provide an ongoing debate as week one arises. Questions like, “who will perform in Marshall’s stead? How heavily will Gus Malzahn lean on the running game?” will arise and they all will lead back to Marshall’s mistake and how his absence raised these questions in the first place. Hopefully this sets an example for his teammates about discipline and understanding the consequences of your actions.
