Stanford star wide receiver and All- American kick returner Ty Montgomery has progressed nicely from off-season shoulder surgery and hopes to be ready for the team’s season opener against UC Davis on August 30. The Cardinal’s leading receiver has already been lifting weights, running routes, and catching passes in hopes of returning to game action as quickly as possible.
Montgomery played the latter half of last season with the shoulder injury before undergoing surgery in February. Reports about Montgomery’s status for the UC Davis game remain up in the air after Cardinal head coach David Shaw said last week at PAC 12 media days that he does not expect his stud receiver to be ready for the first game of the season.
Still, Montgomery has maintained faith saying, “Whenever they tell me I can play, I’m ready to play.”
Only time will tell if he will be available for the team’s opening game, but Montgomery will do his best to be ready.
