Top 10 Coaches In The Nation- Who’s At The Top?

With rosters being turned every year, the head coaches are the faces of college football.  They get all the endorsements, they get the big money and they are the best salesmen of their respective programs.  We’re going to rank the Top Ten coaches in college football in a two-piece segment.

5. Art Briles, Baylor

Art Briles is one of the fast-risers on this list as he’s done great things at his two stops as a head coach.  Just 12 years ago, Briles was coaching in high school and last year he took dormant Baylor to the Fiesta Bowl.  Art Briles is an offensive genius that has cultivated a Heisman Trophy winner and made Baylor a contender in the Big 12.

4. Jimbo Fisher, Florida State

The leader of the reigning National Champs is often overlooked based on where he coaches because he inherited a powerhouse.  Although FSU does recruit itself, he’s competing against Alabama, Florida, LSU and Georgia routinely and Fisher is consistently getting his guys.  It all came full circle this past year when FSU avoided the usual “FSU upset loss” and went undefeated en route to the title.  Fisher didn’t build the program but he’s maintained it and deserves some credit for that.

3. Urban Meyer, Ohio State

The former Gators coach is a driven, proven winner in the coaching ranks and has the hardware to prove it.  Meyer’s greatest strength may be recruiting, not only players but his assistant coaches as he’s building his own “tree.”  Although Meyer isn’t the best X’s and O’s coach in the nation, you simply cannot argue with the record and he’s won everywhere he’s gone.

2. Gus Malzahn, Auburn

I don’t care that this guy has been at his job for one year, he’s absolutely magical.  Malzahn can “take his and beat yours, and take yours and beat his.”  He’s simply amazing as a head coach and he’s the premiere offensive genius in college football. Malzahn was the main reason for Auburn’s 2010 title and he returned three years later to get within seconds of leading them to another.  Malzahn isn’t going anywhere and in a few years I predict he’ll be at the very top of this list.

1. Nick Saban, Alabama

You can’t argue with the success that Nick Saban has had and he has the titles to prove it.  Saban is one of the greatest coaches in the history of college football and he’s the best salesman in the business.  Saban is worth every penny of his near $7 million annual salary and he can immediately take over any program and lead it to success, big time success.  It’s going to be a pleasure for college football fans to watch him and Malzahn match wits year after year starting in November.
