The Kentucky football program and head coach Mark Stoops have announced that Patrick Towles will be their starting quarterback for the 2014 season. Towles, a redshirt sophomore, played in five games two seasons ago, but redshirted in his first season under coach Stoops.
Towles won the starting spot over Drew Barker, Reese Phillips and former starter Maxwell Smith. The Kentucky native was a legend in his home state winning three state titles and being named the top prospect from Kentucky in 2012. Still, the question remains whether or not Towles will be able to carry the wildcats back to SEC relevance beginning August 30 when the team squares off against Tennessee-Martin.
