Former Oklahoma quarterback Blake Bell did not give up on his career in Norman when Trevor Knight emerged as the Sooners quarterback last season.
Instead, Bell decided to stay on the offensive side of the ball and move to tight end.
Now, he’s Oklahoma’s starter and plans on catching touchdowns instead of throwing them.
Bell won the job after beating out Taylor McNamara. Head coach Bob Stoops did not rule out using Bell at quarterback during certain situations, and may use him if Knight and backup Cody Thomas go down with injuries.
During his career in Norman thus far, Bell has 36 total touchdowns (24 rushing, 12 passing). He’s hoping to add some receiving scores to that list.
Oklahoma opens its season this Saturday against Louisiana Tech.
