Oregon State Basketball Receives Blood Line Commits

On Tuesday, the Oregon State basketball team struck gold three times.  Head coach Wayne Trinkle and assistant coach Stephen Thompson made the unusual sales pitch of recruiting to their sons, both ESPN Top 100 recruits, to join the Beavers program.  As many may have expected, Tres Trinkle and Stephen Thompson Jr. wanted to play under their fathers and solidified that when they committed to Oregon State.

Trinkle, a small forward, is the higher ranked of the two players (No. 45) and should be able to use his 6’7″ frame to make an immediate impact.  Similar to Trinkle, Thompson Jr. has excellent size as a 6’4″ guard with a  knack for scoring the basketball.

More than the thought of playing for dad, their pitch was centered around the ability to contribute major minutes right away while helping to build the Beavers into a PAC 12 contender.

Joining in the committing fun was point guard Derrick Bruce.  Bruce reclassified to the 2015 year and immediately became Oregon State bound.  The trio of talented players could shift next year’s conference landscape by competing near the top of the Pac-12.
