Despite being ejected from Saturday’s game, Syracuse starting quarterback Terrel Hunt will face no further punishment from the Atlantic Coast Conference. In just the second quarter, the Orange were in the midst of a tight contest when Hunt was penalized and ejected for punching Villanova linebacker Dillon Lucas. After being tackled, Lucas made contact to Hunt’s helmet ultimately leading to the retaliation.
Without their starting quarterback, Syracuse narrowly escaped the game with a double-overtime 27-26 win, but head coach Scott Shafer was fearful he would be without his starting quarterback for next Saturday’s game against Central Michigan. In just a quarter plus of game action, Hunt threw for 94 yards on 10 of 17 passing while contributing 25 more yards on the ground.
The senior quarterback must maintain an even keel if the team aspires to contend in the top-heavy ACC.
