USC Quarterback Cody Kessler Missed Tuesday Practice

USC starting quarterback Cody Kessler reportedly missed a portion of Tuesday’s practice due to an injured toe suffered during the team’s 52-13 win over Fresno State.  Kessler was named PAC 12 Player of the Week for his 394-yard, four-touchdown performance in the win.

USC head coach Steve Sarkisian expects Kessler to be fine for the school’s primetime matchup against (13) Stanford this weekend.  Not too much to read into yet, but backup Max Browne took most of the first team snaps in practice, indicating he could see significant time in Saturday night’s game.

A season ago, Kessler started all 14 of USC’s games and threw for 2,968 yards, 20 touchdowns and seven interceptions.  Still, Saturday pits the junior quarterback against another excellent PAC 12 field general in redshirt junior Kevin Hogan.  The toe injury could play a major role in the outcome of the heavy battle.
