Washington, D.C., Pittsburgh To Host A-10 Tournament

In recent years the conference landscape of college basketball has drastically changed.  With those events comes the desire to improve every aspect the conference can and that includes their annual conference tournaments.

The A-10 Conference announced Thursday that Pittsburgh and Washington, D.C. will play host to the 2017 and 2018 tournaments respectively.  The plan took shape after the ACC swooped in to purchase postseason tournament rights to the Barclay Center for those two seasons.

It appears the A-10 hoped to keep the tournament in the Barclay Center and will return to their original venue during 2019-2021.  If the A-10 hopes to compete against the larger conferences, the A-10 must generate the media attention in major markets that the power conferences do. The A-10 has several schools in the DC area like George Washington, and other programs in the extended area like George Mason, Richmond and VCU.
