The UCLA Bruins elite recruiting class took a major hit Thursday when Jonah Bolden was ruled academically ineligible.
Bolden, ranked 84th overall in his class, will remain on scholarship with hopes that he will be eligible within the fall semester. The 6’9″power forward has one last appeal, hoping to clear an issue stemming from his decision to leave Findlay Prep (Las Vegas, NV) midway through last year before finishing his high school career at Brewster Academy (Wolfeboro, NH)
Head coach Steve Alford was in dire need of a solid recruiting class after losing his top four scorers early to the NBA, and Bolden was going to be a big part of it. The top ten recruiting class features three ESPN Top 100 recruits, but Bolden’s length and athleticism will be surely missed, UCLA needs as much help replacing the departed talent it can get.
