Alabama free safety Nick Perry has been suspended for the first half of the team’s matchup versus the Florida Gators. Perry was ejected from last weekend’s game against Southern Mississippi for targeting the opposing offensive players. The senior led with his helmet during a third quarter collision with Southern Miss wide out Kyle Foster, and since he only missed one half of Saturday’s game, he will be forced to miss the following half that comes against the rival Gators.
Perry has started all three games so far for head coach Nick Saban, recording six of his 47 career tackles and one sack. Saban will now look to Geno Smith, the starter at the “star” inside-cornerback position, in what could prove to be a pivotal game against the Jeff Driskel led Gators team.
On top of the Perry suspension, the team will also be without fellow cornerback Jarrick Williams, who is recovering from a foot fracture.
