Maryland transfer and current Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket Charles Mitchell has been granted immediate eligibility by the NCAA for the 2014-15 season. Mitchell will remain in the Atlantic Coast Conference, but since the Terrapins are leaving for the Big 10, he has been cleared to play from the jump.
Mitchell will pair up with Ole Miss transfer DeMarco Cox to form an imposing down low duo for the Yellow Jackets. During his final season with Maryland, Mitchell averaged 6.5 points and 6.3 rebounds in 18.8 minutes per game. He will have two years of eligibility remaining.
The Terrapins and Yellow Jackets performed a strange switch-a-roo when former Georgia Tech junior Robert Carter Jr. transferred to Maryland. Head coach Brian Gregory will need all the help he can get from Mitchell as the team hopes to improve from their disappointing 16-17 record finishing just 6-11 in the ACC.
