Q&A with Peter Whiteneck

Peter Whiteneck is currently playing his second year as a wide receiver for the University of Pennsylvania. In high school, Whiteneck was dominant on the field. He holds the school records for receptions, receiving yards and touchdowns in a season, as well as the record for receptions in one game.

We caught up with the record-setting receiver to ask him some questions, answers shared below.

What is the most challenging thing for you to do in your sport?

Staying healthy over the course of a long season. All the practice takes a toll on your body and you need to constantly work to keep your body in top shape.

What is your favorite Disney movie?

The Lion King

What is your favorite candy?

Sour Patch Kids

What is the best compliment you have ever received?

That I look like Christian Bale; I’ll take looking like Batman as a compliment.

What was the scariest thing you have had to do? Are you glad you did it?

Any type of public speaking; I hate it. I get more nervous before a presentation or speech than before a game.

What has been one of your greatest accomplishment as an athlete?

Breaking all the single season receiving records my senior year of high school (GAC).

Who is a “hero” in your life and why?

My dad for teaching me how to be a man growing up, and instilling the mindset to never settle for anything less than my highest goals.

How would you give away $50,000?

I would donate it to Boys and Girls Club or buy my parents a new car for all they’ve done for me.

What is difficult about your sport?

Catching a pass when you know you’re going to get lit up.

What is most satisfying about your sport?

Seeing technique, release, or just anything I specifically work on in training come through in a game for a big play.

What is your favorite hobby? Why?

Playing basketball or any sport with my friends. I love playing all types of sports and it is fun to play without having to be too serious.

If you could be the head coach of a team for a year, what team would you choose?

Atlanta Falcons for sure.

What is your favorite food?

Hibachi

What was the best advice you were ever given?

Excellence isn’t a singular act, but a habit. You will be what you do repeatedly.
