Big 12 Recruiting Roundup

It was a busy recruiting weekend throughout the Big 12, and some big names made official visits to schools around the league.

Oklahoma State currently ranks No. 20 on ESPN’s Recruiting Nation’s 2015 Class Rankings. Mesa Community College (Ariz.) offensive tackle Brandon Pertile, who has already committed to Oklahoma State, was not phased by the loss this weekend in Stillwater to the West Virginia Mountaineers. His commitment still stands despite offers from East Carolina, Texas Tech, Cincinnati, Utah, and Utah State, among others. Pertile has not played this season due to an injury he sustained during the preseason.

Mike Williams also made an official visit this weekend in Stillwater. The 4-star defensive tackle from Santee, South Carolina is committed to the Cowboys’ 2016 class.

The TCU Horned Frogs hosted an official visit from Texas A&M commit, Daylon Mack this weekend. Mack, a 5-star defensive tackle who is ranked No. 3 in the nation, stated TCU’s route of Texas Tech was “Very Impressive,” but the Gladewater, Tex. native still maintains his commitment to the Aggies at this point.

Kansas State hosted 3-star ATH Kylan Johnson in Manhattan this weekend on an official visit, as the Wildcats shut out the Texas Longhorns, 23-0. Johnson plays quarterback at Skyline High School in Dallas, Tex., but is expected to play safety at the next level. Johnson has offers from Arkansas, UCLA, Iowa State, Kansas State, and Wisconsin.

The Longhorns sit at No. 16 on ESPN’s 2015 Class Rankings, with 11 commits.

Some unfortunate news surfaced regarding the Texas Tech Red Raiders. Highly touted 4-star dual-threat quarterback and 2015 commit, Jarrett Stidham (Stephenville H.S.), injured a bone in the ring finger of his throwing hand during the first quarter of Friday’s loss at Big Spring. Stidham will undergo surgery on Monday and is expected to be out for 5-6 weeks.

Of the Top 40 Football Class Rankings listed, Texas Tech is No. 32 in the nation with 11 commits, followed by Baylor at No. 33, with 12 commits.
