1) “Kick Bama Kick” 2013 – The number one spot goes to a moment that is arguably the most exciting ending of any game in college football history and most definitely Iron Bowl history. With time expiring, No. 1 ranked Alabama attempted a 57 yard field goal for the win against No.4 ranked Auburn, but running back Chris Davis had other plans. Davis, who was positioned under the goal, fielded the kick that fell short and ran it back 109 yards for a touchdown. Auburn beat Alabama 34-28 and went on to play for the National Championship against FSU. Mandatory Credit: John Reed-USA TODAY Sports
2) “The Cam Back” 2011 – After being down 24-0 at halftime, Cam Newton and his No.2 ranked Auburn team outscored Alabama 28-3 the rest of the game to beat Alabama 28-27. This is the largest deficit overcome by either team in Iron Bowl history. Auburn went on to win the SEC Championship as well as the 2011 BCS National Championship game. 5) “The Fumble” 1997 – Alabama couldn’t hold on to a 17-15 lead late in the fourth, when fullback Ed Scissum was hit by Auburn’s Martavius Houston forcing the fumble which was recovered by Auburn. On that possession, Auburn kicker Jarrett Holmes made a 39 yard field goal to give them an 18-17 lead. Alabama attempted a 57 yard field goal, but they came up short giving Auburn to win.
6) “Punt Bama Punt” 1972 – It was 16-3 with less than ten minutes to go in the game. Alabama was forced to punt on a drive, which was blocked and returned by Auburn’s David Langner for a touchdown. With the score at 16-10, Alabama was again forced to punt on their next possession. The unthinkable happens, when Alabama’s punt is again blocked and Langner returned it for a touchdown to win 17-16 with minutes remaining. ESPN voted this turnout the 8th most disappointing upset in college football history. Photo cred: http://drugcalledtradition.files.wordpress.com/2008/11/blockedpunt2.jpg
