Arden Key Picks LSU Over South Carolina

The LSU Tigers boosted their recruiting class when Hapeville Charter (Atlanta, Georgia) defensive end Arden Key chose the Tigers over the South Carolina Gamecocks.

Key had been committed to the Gamecocks at two different times over the past year and a half and it seemed he would be heading to Columbia to play collegiate football when all was said and done.

But then LSU hired Ed Orgeron as their defensive line coach who has been deemed a wizard at recruiting. Orgeron made it very clear how bad he wanted Key to be at LSU and he was one of the first prospects he visited which helped swing the momentum in the Tigers favor.

With the company and help of newly hired defensive coordinator Kevin Steele, the buzz surrounding the possibility of Key committing to the Tigers was picking up.

The drama ended last night as Key announced he would join LSU’s 2015 class. The talented end will provide a unique skill set to the Tigers’ defensive line. Do not be surprised to see him utilized like Barkevious Mingo was during his time at Baton Rouge.

The commitment of Key helped LSU rise to the No. 6 spot on 247sports.com team rankings. According to Rivals.com, LSU currently sits at No. 10.

The Tigers also have their eyes set on some other talented prospects such as linebacker Leo Lewis who recently decommitted from Ole Miss. Wide receiver Derrick Dillon and offensive lineman Toby Weathersby could choose the Tigers tomorrow on National Signing Day.

Signing Day is one of the most anticipated sporting events of the year and always has fans holding their breath to see what prospects will wear their team’s colors for the next three to five years.

Tune into Campus Sports for all Signing Day action tomorrow.
