Michigan OL Graham Glasgow suspended indefinitely

About a week ago, head coach Jim Harbaugh and the Michigan Wolverines received word that starting center Jack Miller had decided to hang up the cleats and begin pursuing a future outside of football. Immediately, Harbaugh began scrambling to fill the void left by the three year starter and it was almost a shoe-in that redshirt senior Graham Glasgow would be the top dog. Off the field problems, however, have continued to haunt college athletes as Glasgow violated his probation and has thus been suspended from the Wolverines program.  Coach Harbaugh released a statement Monday regarding the incident.

“We have been made aware of Graham’s probation violation and he has been suspended,” Harbaugh said. “Graham will be subject to punishment through the judicial system, the student-athlete alcohol policy and the Michigan football program.”

The probation likely reverts back to Glasgow’s arrest in July 2014 in connection with a drunk driving incident that led him to be placed on probation for the next 12 months. This meant Glasgow was not able to consume alcohol at any point and was susceptible to random breathalyzer tests. One of those tests came at some point Sunday when Glasgow admitted to having consumed alcohol while blowing a .086 blood alcohol content.

In light of the news, Harbaugh suspended Glasgow indefinitely, and the issue could spill over into the 2015 campaign. In 2014, Glasgow started 11 games for the maize and blue after being suspended for the season opener. Glasgow was expected to be in a heated battle with fellow center Patrick Kugler for the starting position, but Glasgow must navigate his way out of trouble before he can return to football.
