Sometimes a team’s uniform needs to be altered, because it is no longer with the times. But other uniforms can have a classic look that no one wants to be changed. This gives people great ammunition for an April Fool’s joke that people might believe for a second.
Let’s take a look at some teams that tricked their followers:
NFL
Baltimore Ravens: The Ravens announced that they would be wearing the purple and black uniforms from 1996 when the Steeler’s visit the Ravens during the 2015 season. The team also reached out to the original designer of the flying B, to ask for permission to use the team’s original helmet. Even Ravens great Ed Reed had some fun.

Indianapolis Colts: The Colt’s fooled everyone when announcing they were unveiling a new “white-out” uniform and even did a photo shoot with tight end Dwayne Allen, who was wearing an all-white jersey and helmet. The prank photo shoot can be viewed online.
College Football
Penn State: One rumor announced Penn State would be switching back to the original school colors of pink and black for the 2015 football season. Since the basketball team wears pink and black uniforms for one game a year, so they figured, why not do the same? But instead of wearing them for one game, they would commit to wearing the colors for every game of the 2015 season.
Colorado State: A joke from The Collegian had Colorado athletic director Joe Parker announcing the first thing he is going to do as athletic director is eliminate the football program so the players can take up competitive knitting. While the article is clearly not serious, it goes on to say that the football team will be training for the current season by knitting themselves their uniforms.
LSU: Les Miles, head coach of the LSU football team, has decided to start a new tradition; making the football field turf the colors of the school. This means that LSU will install a purple field. At least that’s how the joke has gone.

They feel that this will be an advantage to their team because other teams that play on a normal green field won’t be accustomed to the color and ultimately confuse them.
Texas A&M: The well-known Texas A&M blog Good Bull Hunting put together a convincing “Breaking News” report that says the school mascot, Reveille, would no longer be allowed at Kyle Field after the renovations are complete due to Brazos County building ordinance. The blog post also had an inspection report sheet to add a little extra to convince people.
