Another Kansas State Wildcat basketball player will not be returning to the team. Per head coach Bruce Weber, as reported by ESPN College Basketball Insider Jeff Goodman, freshman Malek Harris will not return to the team next season.

In 12.4 minutes per game this season, Harris averaged just 2.1 points on 39.6 percent shooting.

The 6-foot-7 guard now joins leading scorer Marcus Foster and guard Tre Harris as players who have been dismissed from the team.

Speaking to CBS news outlet KWCH, Weber kept his explanation for Harris’s dismissal short and sweet.

“We have high standards for the players in our program,” said Weber. “Unfortunately, Malek could not live up to those expectations. We wish him the best as he continues his basketball career.”

The Wildcats went 15-17 (8-10 Big 12) last season, Weber’s third with the team.

Harris’s dismissal marks the fifth player leaving the team. Besides the aforementioned Foster and Harris, sophomores Jevon Thomas and Nigel Johnson have opted to transfer.
