Auburn Tigers name Jeremy Johnson starting QB for 2015

The Auburn Tigers football team finally has a starting quarterback named for the 2015 college season. The man who will be leading the offense is none other than Jeremy Johnson.

Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn named Jeremy Johnson the starter on Monday.

The decision to name Jeremy Johnson the starter in 2015 came after a strong performance from the signal-caller during A-Day on Saturday. Johnson completed 14-of-22 throws for 252 yards and two touchdowns.

I didn’t perform to my best, that I thought I should have performed, but I did OK,” Johnson said after the scrimmage, via AL.com. “It was really about giving our receivers a chance and let them make plays down the field.”

Johnson, a junior, took every snap with the first-team offense, so the writing was on the wall that he would be leading Auburn into the upcoming season, despite no official word from Malzahn at the time.

For the past two years, Johnson has been the primary backup to Nick Marshall.
