Randy Juhl has been serving as the interim athletic director for the Pittsburgh Panthers since the firing of Steve Pederson, but now it appears that they are set to finally tab a permanent replacement.
According to Jeff Goodman of ESPN, Pitt is expected to hire Scott Barnes as their athletic director on Friday.
Barnes was chosen as the new athletic director through a Chicago-based hiring firm, DHR International.
It is a great hiring for Pitt and one that the fans can celebrate.
Barnes is very established and has had an incredible amount of success at his current job with Utah State. During that time, Barnes has helped Utah State join a bigger conference, raise plenty of funds and even lock down a uniform deal with Nike. He also previously held the position of senior associate athletic director at Washington.
If Barnes can continue to do his job at a high level, the Panthers will be able to turn a corner and see mass improvement compared to when Steve Pederson was leading the way.
