Yogi Ferrell will announce his plans to return to Indiana

With the return of James Blackmon Jr, Robert Johnson and Troy Williams, the Indiana Hoosiers were looking for one more piece to the puzzle to have a strong shot at being one of the strongest most competitive teams in the Big Ten.

They will receive that positive news on Sunday as point guard and leader Yogi Ferrell is expected to announce today that he is returning to Indiana for his senior season, according to NBC Sports.

Ferrell averaged 16.3 points per game, 4.9 assists, 3.2 rebounds and only 1.9 turnovers during his junior season. The 6’0″ Indianapolis native also averaged a team high 17.3 points per game in his sophomore year.

The point guard has smooth ball handling skills, a knock down shooting ability and superb leadership skills. Ferrell can take over a game with his three point shot and also, his ability to see the floor opens up shots for his teammates.

Ferrell was supposed to announce his decision on Saturday night but decided to delay the attention due to the mourning of a fellow Indiana students’ death. With the deadline for the NBA Draft being tonight at 11:59 pm, Ferrell had to make a decision Sunday, one way or another.

Indiana is expected to once again compete for an NCAA Tournament berth but that may not be the only success they will be striving for. With the addition of Thomas Bryant (sixth ranked center in 2015), Ferrell and other returnees, the Hoosiers are expected to be right in the mix for a Big Ten title and a possible top 25 ranking.
