Former NC State Player Slams Calipari Recruiting Practices

Three star recruit Shaun Kirk committed to N.C. State this Monday. Hours later, Kentucky offered the Whiteville, NC small forward a scholarship.

Now his commitment is on hold.

Former N.C. State star Julius Hodge is not happy with the development and took to Twitter to voice his opinion:

“I remember when there was a time when coaches respected already “committed” athletes. I only had ONE not do so…seems old dogs=old tricks.”

The story is reminiscent of 2010’s recruitment of Terrence Jones. The Oregon native had been committed to Washington for several hours when he received a call from John Calipari, who stated he’d “made a mistake.”

The Wildcats offered Jones a scholarship and together they went on to win the 2012 national championship.
