Stanford Cardinal tight end will transfer to the University of Virginia, per a report by Jamie Oakes of 247Sports. The rising fifth year senior will be immediately eligible to play for the Cavaliers.
Though of tremendous size at 6-foot-6, 262 pounds, Hopkins was practically a non-factor in Stanford’s passing attack. He was primarily used as a blocker and caught just two passes for 10 yards in his time with the Cardinal. He also registered two tackles.
All of those stats occurred in 2013, a season in which Hopkins appeared in all 14 games for Stanford. He only played in three this past year, all as a blocker.
Hopefully, at UVA, he can become a factor in the Cavaliers’ passing attack under head coach Mike London.
