Football series announcements the currently hip breaking news topic, so of course the West Coast kids got in on the action.
Stanford and San Diego State University announced Tuesday via school press releases that they will play a home-and-home next season, CollegeFootballTalk reports. The schools haven’t played each other in football since the late-80s.
The Cardinal was orginially scheduling a home-and-home with Virginia at this time–a plan that had to be nixed due to a “scheduling conflict.” SDSU on the other hand, is adding Stanford to a long list of scheduled home-and-homes that will pit them against at least one Pac-12 school a season through 2022, CFT says.
The Aztecs are set to host the first game at Qualcomm Stadium down in SD on September 16, 2017. Stanford will then play host on September 1, 2018, at Stanford Stadium.
Although, us NorCal kids wouldn’t be surprised if the Cardinal ended up hosting at Levi’s Stadium–new home to the San Francisco 49ers–since just about every special event from wrestling to outdoor hockey is being hosted there nowadays.
