I’m not going to lie– the only reason I know what KDs are is because my high school students are crazy about them. When asked to sculpt a shoe of their choice for art class, many students chose to craft the KDs they owned or admired. Since they are so popular amongst teenagers, I was shocked to see that the new KDs are receiving negative reviews.
In case you don’t know what KDs are, they compromise professional basketball player Kevin Durant’s shoe line. Currently there are seven editions of the KD, and the KD 8 is said to release in July of this year.
Though some KD fans can’t wait to purchase a pair of the KD 8s, and sport them on the basketball court this summer, other KD fans are unhappy with the new edition. Since the shoes have morphed from high tops to low tops over the years, I understand KD fans’ concern over the practicality of the shoe, as high tops are known to reduce ankle sprains. What I am shocked by though, is fans’ bashing of the style of the shoe.
Some comments on the new KDs are as follows: “Junk Junk!!!! They look like Air Max for Basketball. C’mon Nike that’s the best shoe you guys can come up with for KD??? The KD7s are way better in my opinion” and “maybe ill like the kd 9s better” (www.sneakerbardetroit.com).
Despite the popularity of the shoe in the past, recent reviews make it unclear as to whether KDs will uphold their popularity in the future.
Do you think they will?! Please feel free to share your thoughts here at Campussports.net!
