Ex-Sooners RB Keith Ford Leaning Toward Texas A&M

Those following the status of former Oklahoma Sooners running back Keith Ford could soon have an answer. Speaking to GigEm247.com, Ford implied that he is leaning towards heading to College Station and playing for Kevin Sumlin’s Texas A&M Aggies.

“Utah has called me, Louisville is showing a lot of interest and so has U of [Houston]. Texas A&M has also reached out to me. I don’t want to leave the state of Texas so I’m kind of leaning towards Texas A&M. It’s not official yet because I still need to talk with the coaches but I am leaning towards Texas A&M.”

Ford recently had a conversation with Kevin Sumlin which reportedly went very well.

“Coach Sumlin wants to schedule a time where I can come up there and meet with him,” he said … Before anything, he wants to get to know me first. As a head coach to tell me that, it was great to hear.”

The young man from Cypress, Texas, near Houston, has only rushed for 526 yards and six touchdowns on 94 carries across two seasons, and the former four-star recruit was suspended from the team for academic violations back in March before recently deciding to transfer.

Texas A&M would certainly be a fine destination for him, as the Aggies ranked 84th in the nation in rushing and will need a running back once Tra Carson graduates next spring. Moreover, the team has a bright future with freshman quarterback sensation Kyler Murray waiting in the wings.

Nothing is official yet, but Campus Sports will update Ford’s story as more details become available.
