TCU’s Trevone Boykin gets compared to Russell Wilson

The TCU Horned Frogs are one of the top programs in all of college football and their quarterback is generating plenty of preseason praise.

While speaking on TCU’s Trevone Boykin as a NFL Draft prospect, College Football 24/7 writer Chase Goodbread said that he reminds him of current Seattle Seahawks signal-caller Russell Wilson.

“As is typical for a college quarterback with his athleticism, Boykin doesn’t hesitate to tuck the ball and do his damage on the ground when given the chance,” wrote Goodbread, via NFL.com. “Wilson, of course, scrambles more to throw. But if Boykin reaches the pros, he’ll take on more of a sense of self-preservation in time.”

Last season, Boykin threw for 3,714 yards and 30 touchdowns while adding 642 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground.

If Boykin can continue to play at a high level and live up to the expectations in 2015, the Horned Frogs could find themselves vying for a national championship as one of four teams in the College Football Playoff.
