Former Penn State Nittany Lions head coach Joe Paterno could soon stir up another controversy.
We all know about Paterno’s connection to the Jerry Sandusky scandal — which led to vacated wins and a postseason ban (the wins have since been reinstated — so whenever his name is brought up people immediately have an opinion on the subject.
Enter Pennsylvania representative Michael Regan.
Regan is set to introduce a state bill in order to get a bridge renamed after the former coaching icon. If the proposed bill goes through, a bridge on the Pennsylvania Turnpike that leads cars over the Susquehanna River would be renamed Joseph V. Paterno Memorial Bridge.
There is still a long way to go before the bridge could be renamed, so it will be interesting to see the public reaction as things are set in motion.
