UCF and UConn create ‘The Civil Conflict’ trophy

With the consolidation of several of college football’s top leagues, there became a need for new rivalries.  One of those new look match ups has pitted the University of Central Florida Knights against the University of Connecticut Huskies.

The two teams have been among the American Athletic Conference finest and has developed into a highly competitive contest.

Despite only meeting twice, UConn head coach Bob Diaco believed the game’s winner warranted a trophy naming it “The Civil Conflict” trophy.

Still, the entire rivalry seems a bit forced with such little history between the two programs.  Nonetheless, the schools with a have their first chance of establishing some tradition when they square off come November.
