Mike Viti, a Class of 2016 defensive back from Cedar Cliff High School in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, near Harrisburg, has committed to the University of Maryland.
Ahmed Gafir of 247 Sports reported Viti’s decision. Viti received his offer while at camp.
Standing six feet tall and weighing in at 175 pounds, Viti currently plays safety and will have a year to grow into his frame before heading to College Park and suiting up for the Terps. He is Maryland’s 12th commitment from the class of 2016 and second defensive back commit. Per Rivals, Viti had also drawn interest from Bucknell, Wyoming and Akron.
Not much else is known about Viti, nor why he chose Maryland, but Campus Sports will update this story as more information becomes available.
Maryland went 7-6 (4-4 Big Ten) in its first Big Ten season and fourth overall under head coach Randy Edsall. The Terps lost to Stanford in the Foster Farms Bowl and open the 2015 season in College Park on September 5, when Richmond pays a visit.
