Colorado starting forward Johnson suffers torn Achilles

The University of Colorado men’s basketball team released some devastating news on Thursday.

According to Rob Dauster of College Basketball Talk, senior forward Xavier Johnson tore his Achilles tendon and will miss most of the 2015-2106 season.  He had surgery to repair the injury last week.

There is a possibility that Johnson could return later in the season, but it may be in his best interest to apply for a medical redshirt and sit out the entire year.

Head coach Tad Boyle confirmed the injury happened during a workout earlier in the month.

Johnson started 15 games last year and was only 33 points away from reaching the 1000 point plateau. He has great range from behind the arc and ranks third in school history in 3 point percentage.

The Buffaloes were counting on him to help the team boune-back from a tough 2014 season and return to the NCAA tournament.
