As the countdown to the 2015 NBA Draft continues, the Los Angeles Lakers continue to be a wild card team whose No. 2 pick continues to be the talk of pre-draft chatter.
If one were to ask Mike Bresnahan of the Los Angeles Times, GM Mitch Kupchak drafting center Jahlil Okafor is all but a certainty.
Lakers leaning toward taking Jahlil Okafor in tonight's draft, The Times has learned. They'll be on the clock at 4:35 Pacific time.

However, ESPN Los Angeles’ Ramona Shelburne is reporting a different story, stating that the Lakers have no idea who they’ll be taking with the second pick tonight.
Lakers "undecided " on No 2 pick. Russell/Okafor both in play. Kupchak will make final call and he keeps things very close to vest

The pick that seems to make the most sense for the Lakers would be Okafor, as the team desperately needs a center and Okafor would complement Kobe Bryant and second-year man Julius Randle well. However, Russell is certainly a better option at the point than Jordan Clarkson and there are going to be plenty of big men available on the free agent market this summer. Given how the Lakers will have money to spend, perhaps selecting Russell wouldn’t be such a terrible idea.
But of course, Kupchak’s “uncertainty” could just be a smokescreen in order to see how much other teams would be willing to give up in a potential trade for the No. 2 pick. With teams like the Boston Celtics not being shy about wanting to move up in the draft, this is definitely a story to watch as the main event approaches.
