Sam Dekker returns home to cut mom’s lawn following draft


Sam Dekker is living proof: You can take the boy out of Wisconsin, but you really can’t take the Wisco out of the boy.

The Badger alum returned to his home town of Sheboygan after being drafted by the Houston Rockets on Thursday to–drumroll, please–mow the lawn for his mom, reports.

Not quite what you would expect from a guy who was just drafted 18th overall in this year’s NBA Draft, right? But how can you not love a player who keeps his family close despite the distractions that surely come with an up-coming professional hoops career.

Kudos to Dekker for not letting the hoopla of the Draft go to his head. And three cheers to Momma Dekker for giving us photographic proof:
