Some people get their blood pumping on the field. As a New York native, I get mine pumping trying to find the best dollar pizza around. But others, like University of Tennessee student David Karnauch, climb bridges and take selfies.
During his recent escapade, the Chattanooga, Tennessee native scaled the Brooklyn Bridge, and in regular adrenaline junkie tourist fashion, turned around, snapped a quick picture and posted it on Instagram.
In a statement by the NYPD’s Deputy Commissioner of Intelligence and Counterterrorism John Miller, “The person most endangered was the individual whose goal seems to be bringing attention to himself.”
But for 400 likes, though, I think he could’ve done better.
The NYPD have been increasing security in preparation for the 4th of July, but Karnauch told WCBS 2, “I didn’t have any clue that NYC is ramping up security. There was nobody there to stop me from climbing onto the bridge.”
Don’t mind the fact that thrill barriers were installed. Don’t mind the fact that this was done in broad daylight. And don’t mind that this was done in a high traffic area.
But who knows? I feel safer already.
