Dominique Hatfield, a cornerback for the Utes, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on Wednesday for suspicion of armed robbery, according to a report from the Deseret News. The arrest stems from an incident on Tuesday night where Hatfield robbed a man at knife point.
Apparently, Hatfield used Craigslist to initiate a meeting with the victim who thought he was meeting Hatfield to buy an Xbox.
When the man met up with Hatfield, who identified himself online as David Wilkins, Hatfield pulled a knife on the helpless guy. He immediately coughed up the $180 in cash and watched Hatfield take off on foot to some nearby apartments.
So how did he get caught, you ask?
The victim had his wife call Hatfield inquiring about a cell phone he was also selling.
When Hatfield returned to the site of the crime to presumably commit ANOTHER crime, police were waiting on him. Hatfield, who started 10 games for Utah last year, gets the bonehead athlete of the day award.
