UCLA coach Jim Mora helps child with cancer

UCLA head coach, Jim Mora, is currently putting in effort to help raise money and awareness for a little girl’s battle with cancer.

Six year old, Avery Huffman, was diagnosed with DIPG (Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma), a brain tumor found in the pons, part of the brainstem on the lower back of the brain, near the top of the spinal cord.  Because of the location of the tumor, doctors said that the surgery would be impossible. No child should every have to go through this, but the college football world is slowly coming together to help support young Avery and her family.

When her GoFundMe campaign was started, it caught the eyes of UCLA’s football offices, and they swiftly went to action.

In addition to the GoFundMe, Mora and UCLA are offering additional options for fundraising that will raise a good portion of the goal, as well as introduce two fans into the world of UCLA football.

The options include: $1,200 for 50 full game-day packages (tailgating, parking, and game tickets), $1,500 for five passes to a fall camp practice, and a $5,000 or $10,000 package that includes UCLA bringing two adults on a road trip on a road game of their choice complete with first class seats on the team plane as well as a room in the team hotel.

The $5,000 and $10,000 options have already been claimed, raising $15,000 in short order.

Avery’s GoFundMe has currently raised $137,401 out of a requested $145,000 in only two days.

It is great to see people from the sports world coming together for such a worthwhile cause.

Big ups to you, Coach Mora.
