BYU signee Charles West shot in arm outside middle school

Brigham Young University running back signee Charles West was shot in the arm outside Coppell Middle School East in his hometown of Coppell, Texas (near Dallas) last night. Claire Z. Cardona of The Dallas Morning News reported the story.

Per Cardona, West was playing basketball with friends at the middle school before a man came up to him and shot him in the left arm. West managed to run half a mile away before being taken for medical treatment. He was treated and released that night. Police are still gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses and while there are no suspects, there is a person of interest.

This is not the first time that West has found himself in trouble. Back in February, he was arrested for allegedly raping a woman at knifepoint. West claimed that the accuser was an escort he hired, but he was still charged with aggravated assault. He is still facing trial on those charges and was arrested just days after signing with BYU.
