Former Ohio State offensive lineman Mirko Jurkovic Jr. will now play at Georgia after failing to qualify academically in Columbus. Pete Sampson of Scout.com reported the news on Twitter.

The former star of IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, near Sarasota, had also drawn interest from Nebraska, Arkansas, UConn, Florida, Missouri and Mississippi State, among many other programs.
One in particular, as Sampson reported, was Notre Dame, the alma mater of his father, the late Mirko Jurkovic Sr. Jurkovic Sr. was an offensive lineman for the Fighting Irish and was a Consensus All-American in 1990.
His son will now head to Athens and play for a Bulldogs team that is poised to make a lot of noise in the ultra-competitive SEC this season, with Nick Chubb set to take over for Todd Gurley at running back and former Virginia quarterback Greyson Lambert also coming in.
Just how much playing time the younger Jurkovic will get remains to be seen, but he’ll have a great coach in Mark Richt and every chance to succeed.
Georgia opens the 2015 season at home against the Sun Belt’s Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks on September 5.
