Utah CB Dominique Hatfield suspended following charges

Utah Utes cornerback Dominique Hatfield has been suspended from the team indefinitely after being charged with aggravated robbery and theft last week. Fox Sports reported the development.

The university released a statement earlier today, and head coach Kyle Whittingham said in it that the suspension would be indefinite as Utah would wait to see how the case evolved.

Per police reports, Hatfield is accused of robbing someone at knifepoint. The alleged victim planned to buy an XBox from Hatfield, who is also accused of stealing and selling cellphones. Hatfield has denied robbing the man at knifepoint, but did admit to picking up cellphones left around at parties by people who had been drinking heavily.

This story is still in the early stages, but Campus Sports will update it as the investigation into Hatfield’s case progresses.

A rising junior, Hatfield has 45 tackles and an interception across two seasons.

Utah begins the 2015 season, its twelfth under Whittingham, at home against Michigan on September 3.
