In recent years, the level of athletic success has not been up to the standards held at the University of Texas. As a response, the Longhorns have made several moves in hopes of revitalizing the struggling athletic department.
Former VCU basketball coach Shaka Smart is the latest addition to the Texas coaching tree and made an appearance- alongside football head coach Charlie Strong- at governor Greg Abbots’ house showing their respect for the Lone Star State’s leader.
Abbot, a Texas Alumni, posed with the head coaches showing the traditional “hook ’em” horns flashed by fans and students alike.

Despite many other top-notch programs residing in Texas, the Longhorns may always be the state’s most popular squad.
