The rising sophomore was suspended indefinitely shortly after his arrest in March. His status with the team has not changed.

McKenzie made a small impact for the Hokies his freshman year, running for 269 yards on 53 carries and three touchdowns. Virginia Tech has yet to make an announcement as to whether or not McKenzie will be welcomed back to the team, but Campus Sports will update McKenzie’s status as more details become public.

Virginia Tech opens the 2015 season, its 29th under longtime head coach Frank Beamer, at home against the defending champion Ohio State Buckeyes on September 7.
