The Irish have taken over Las Vegas. During last night’s weigh-ins for UFC 189 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, the Irish crowd brought casino floor traffic to a stand still in order to support their hero, Conor McGregor.
McGregor will be fighting Chad Mendes for the interim featherweight title on Saturday night, after a rib injury forced his original opponent, Jose Aldo, out of their scheduled title fight.
Now, McGregor and Mendes fight for the right to become the first featherweight champion in UFC history not named Jose Aldo, before an eventual title unification bout.
Before the two men step into the cage, the fine folks at EA Sports ran a simulation of the matchup with their EA Sports UFC video game. Who comes out on top? None other than “The Notorious,” who would then be one step closer to finally locking horns with Aldo.
