Elijah Holyfield is No. 1 on Georgia’s board

Elijah Holyfield, the son of former heavyweight boxing champion Evander Holyfield, is one of the best running back recruits in the nation. Holyfield has offers from the likes of Alabama, Auburn, Georgia and Tennessee, but it appears that one school is being more active in their approach.

According to Holyfield, the Georgia Bulldogs have prioritized signing Atlanta’s Woodward Academy standout by making him the No. 1 player on their board.

“[UGA assistant coach Thomas Brown] told me that I’m the back they want in this class and he would be perfectly happy if he only takes me,” Holyfield said, via the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

“They have been pretty adamant about it. They have told me that I am No. 1 many times now.”

As for the other schools who are hoping to land Holyfield, they could hear a decision very soon.

“The schools I have visited the past couple of weeks – Auburn, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee – those are the schools that I’m paying close attention to these next couple of weeks,” he said. “I’m not going to get another chance to visit those schools again. I think I’ve seen enough of them already, so I think in my mind, I’m ready to pick a school.”

While Holyfield has not said where he will play, it is looking like the Bulldogs will have a great chance at receiving a commitment from one of the nation’s most talented backs.
