FSU reveals what number Everett Golson will wear

Florida State University has revealed that graduate transfer quarterback Everett Golson will wear No. 6 for the team this year. The university’s football program revealed the news on its personal Twitter page, showing a snapshot of Golson’s place in this year’s media guide.

Golson joins the Seminoles this season after spending two seasons with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Over that stretch, he threw for 5,850 yards and 41 touchdowns with a completion percentage of 59.5. He also managed 581 rush yards and 14 scores.

But Golson is not guaranteed the starting job just yet, as longtime Jameis Winston heir apparent Sean Maguire is also on the roster. Given how Maguire has spent an extended period of time learning head coach Jimbo Fisher’s system, he could have a slight advantage even though Golson could theoretically get the starting job under center due to his status as a graduate transfer.

Hopefully, wearing number 6 will give Golson good luck of some sort as he looks to wrap up his college playing career.

Florida State opens the 2015 season at home against Texas State on September 5.
