Braxton Miller may have decided to remain at Ohio State, but it wasn’t because no other program was willing to welcome him with open arms. According to ESPN’s Brett McMurphy, LSU Tigers head coach Les Miles was quite the fan of Miller’s abilities.
Les Miles asked if he wanted grad transfer QB: “I would have loved to been in running for the Ohio State QB (Miller) if he came out"

It’s no secret that LSU could use some help at quarterback, and Miller’s overall skillset and experience would have been welcome in Baton Rouge. Junior Anthony Jennings is currently suspended from the team after being arrested on a burglary charge last month, and he didn’t perform particularly well last season. In 13 games, he threw for just 1,611 yards and 11 touchdowns with a completion percentage of only 48.9. Should he not be cleared to play for any reason, the only other option at the position is undersized sophomore Brandon Harris.
Thus, with Miller having chosen to remain in Columbus, where he’ll have to battle both Cardale Jones and J.T. Barrett for the starting quarterback’s job after missing all of last season with a shoulder injury, it’s interesting that he decided against going to a program where he almost definitely would have been the starter. His choices are his own, but it’s definitely something worth thinking about, depending on how the Ohio State starting quarterback’s battle plays out.
LSU opens the season at home against the Southland’s McNeese State Cowboys on September 5.
