FSU’s Jacob Pugh laughs off ESPN’s Football Power Index

ESPN recently released their preseason top 10 in the “Football Power Index.”

The ESPN FPI — which is a measure of team strength that is meant to be the best predictor of a team’s performance going forward for the rest of the season — also “represents how many points above or below average a team is. Projected results are based on 10,000 simulations of the rest of the season using FPI, results to date, and the remaining schedule. Ratings and projections update daily,” according to ESPN.

The preseason top ten is topped by the reigning national champion Ohio State Buckeyes and there are six representatives from the SEC.

Unfortunately, one player from a non-top 10 team feels snubbed.

That player is Florida State Seminoles linebacker Jacob Pugh, who decided to mock the FPI poll on social media.

April Fools everyone 😂😂 now please tell me who photoshopped this picture I'm curious to know…. @espn https://t.co/eVt8e14pNN

ESPN oughta be ashamed of themselves with that "TOP 10" list 😑

Not only is Florida State not in the top ten, they aren’t even in the top twenty. The Seminoles come in at No. 21.

For Pugh and his teammates, this preseason snub could give them some extra motivation to return to the national championship game after falling short a season ago.
